A Winter Wonderland Child Portrait session

I envisioned this winter wonderland session of my girls in beautiful princess outfits in our yard after a snow storm. Keira loved the "Snow Princess" idea and she had her own ideas on an outfit. She had seen a tutu video tutorial and had been wanting to make one for a while. We got to work on tutus & flower crowns and they came out pretty good if I do say so myself:)

Now we had to wait for the perfect storm and boy did we get it! A magical winter wonderland in our backyard and a day off from school to make it happen. We ventured out in the FREEZING weather and Keira worked her magic. On a side note: Kyleigh refused to wear the outfit on the day of the shoot:( I believe her exact words were: "Mom are you crazy, it's freezing out there! We agreed Kyleigh would have her own special ballerina photo shoot in the studio. Stay tuned for that!

I have to admit it was kind of comical being out there knee deep in snow and watching Keira maneuver around in that tutu which kept freezing and getting stuck in the snow. But seriously... how often do we get to create art that will capture a child's true innocence and spirit. She will have these photos to share with her own children someday and think to herself, "remember that time my crazy mother made me go outside in a dress after a blizzard to take photos". The memories of childhood and having a photographer mom will come rushing back!

Oh my sweet & beautiful Keira...you are so amazing, kind and brave to go out in the cold and let your mother photograph you! I love you more than you know. XOXO
